Guys, maybe we should just have a MIX of helping others and spending time with family. Maybe us, the parents, can take our kids to food banks instead. I think it's a good way for them to see those in need. Have them donate food and volunteer. We can't just say Christmas is about helping others. That IS part of it, but not the entire reason! Christmas is also to come together with your FAMILY. So quit saying crap about how kids don't appreciate what they have. I make my kids pray every night, and say something they're thankful for. They always come up with something! And just because kids in your Christmas were greedy little brats, doesn't mean we cant't change the next generations ways! Maybe you should teach your kids to appreciate family and to appreciate the things they have. Sorry for the rant. it just had to be said.

Kids need to learn what Christmas really means. In the 80s as I was driving through a upper class neighborhood, 3 days after Christmas, I began watching the kids playing. I'm sure that presents were plentiful under all their trees, but what these kids were doing was hitting a plastic milk jug around with sticks. Who ever came up with the whole idea about toys at Christmas time must of had a lot of stock in Mattel, Parker Bros, etc. It's a time for them to see that a lot of people would appreciate food. I know because I was one of those kids.

Lol Furbies... I thought those evil things were done with when I was a kid. Now they're making a comeback?

The Wii U can render shaders fine, but when it comes to rendering physics and controllable player models, it's RAM's data per second limitations slap it in the face. The processor also requires a lot of working with and it may be quite a few first party titles before we see anyone even attempt to work with it for a triple A third party game.

Don't get your kids a Wii U.

hey i am a 14 year old boy and when i was little i use to hate going to soup kitchens but there i meet one of my best friends so ya it's a drag but you can meet some people that are in need of a friend so you are a real jerk who think they knows what there talking about but some needy kids need friends if they had that it wouldn't be so much crime on the streets when you have a bad life you grow up bad to survive or do better and 9-10 you grow up bad but if they have friends you would have a better life so think about that

This is quite a monumentally divine qualification claimed, seeing inside minds of children and supporting their wishes.

The Wii U is not a toy, nobody would call a computer, or a ps3/xbox 360 which are much closer to a computer a toy, it is a gaming machine. That's like saying buying an Ipad for your 8 year old is a toy. If it comes with a hard drive you can't consider it a toy.

That being said, the Nintendo Wii U is loads of fun and you should all go buy each of your children one, yes, each of them, buy 10 if you have them, everybody needs one of their own. Can't go wrong with mario and pikmin 3

Seems nice that things within interest for the holidays to say hasn't really changed awhole. Gives the years before during and after the times to say "still" look forward when they are there. Makes new sound weird but still.

iTunes, XBOX Live and Wii stuff is always popular.
The Wii U should be a hot item this Christmas.

This is AWESOME!! I love the Teenage Muntant Ninja Turtle set!! just like the good ol days. and the fact Leap Pead has a Leap Pad 2 out and there's that Tabeo WOW!! that's going to be hardcore sellers. Families conquer every Pixar or family film in the box office and there are going to SLAYYY Toys R Us with purchases. I must say though there's a Top17 and most families would get all of them do be smart and remember you can always save for a another time but REMEMBER to save your money starting today. MOney can be invested in a childs education & fun it just takes a smart savvy parent to do so & making it work or trying to at least.  Investing in getting toys, gas, bills, food, life is an investment and you never wanna be a homeless person living in public storage or having to sell all of your stuff because you weren't wise with your money. Baby steps. A dollar saved a day keep the insufficient funds AWAY!!

Toys R Us comes out with the "top toys" every Christmas so gullible parents will buy them for their spoiled brats.  I guarantee that these "top toys" are expensive and Toys R Us is laughing all the way to the bank.

You people saying to donate the money or have them work at the soup kitchen must not have any children. If you do, what is wrong with you? Didnt get any love when you were younger or are you just old and bitter?  Seeing a good kid that I love with a smile on their face at Christmas is the only present that I really need.  Beside I have worked at the soup kitchen and while you can find many needy nice people there are just as many demanding lowlife buttheads that are not grateful to deal with too.  I have had my fill of them.

Admittedly the first few items on this list are very lame and I do not agree that they are top items but as we approach the end of the list we can see some pretty good ideas so thank you.

Damn, some of these toys are so expensive!  The last thing a little kid needs is a tablet.  I think one or 2 nice gifts for Christmas is plenty....too few parents teach children to not be so spoiled and greedy.

If you really want to do something great for your kids take the money you would spend on toys, and put it in the bank to pay for a good education .  Give them a future !!!  Make them a toy , it has more meaning.  Merry Christmas

It is fine that people will be giving their children these toys if they can afford to, but I also think that while the children are off on christmas break, they should go to the soup kitchens or other worthy organizations and spend the day volunteering their services.  Children DO NEED to see how those much less fortunate really live.
